We are still open for chiropractic treatment and Dr. Medlong will be in the office to continue treating. We have 30 minute appointments available for a muscle treatment with the doctor and 10 minute appointments for the adjustment-only sessions.
The recent executive order by our governor has stopped all massage therapy for the time being. We support his decision but are so sad to say that we are canceling all of the massage appointments scheduled for next week. We will take it a week at a time and plan on calling people on Fridays to cancel for the next week if the executive order hasn’t changed.
As soon as you walk in the door of our family owned and operated clinic you'll see that we go out of our way to make sure our patient's feel at home with us. And we assure you that you will receive some of the best chiropractic care around. At Chiro Cleveland, our focus is on treating muscles because muscle tension is the leading cause of painful conditions.
As we go through our day, we commonly do the same activities for long hours at a time. These repetitive stress injuries occur in a variety of different activities such as sitting for long hours at a desk, bending over repetitively, long distance running, lifting at the gym with improper form and standing for long hours. As time goes on, these muscles will tighten, causing a stiff feeling. We can usually ignore this stiffness for days or years because it does not fully prevent us from functioning in our day but the pain never truly goes away. That stiffness is a warning signal from our muscles to our brain that this should be fixed.
This stiffness can lead to a spasm if left untreated, which usually means someone “threw their back out”. Now this can occur anywhere in the body. Most commonly this scenery plays out as neck pain, mid back pain (between the shoulder blades) or lower back pain. Some of the other common areas are the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle, plantar fasciitis, TMJ (Jaw pain) and headaches (migraines).
Since the muscles of the body are a mechanical structure, it makes sense to treat them with a mechanical therapy (manipulation, massage, stretching and exercise). By treating these muscle conditions with chiropractic and massage therapy, you treat the source of the problem. And by teaching you a home-treatment program, we can work together to keep the problem from coming back.
