Chiropractic Treatment

Picture
The chiropractic adjustment (spinal adjustment) to correct stiffness in the neck and back is what sets chiropractors apart from other types of physicians. The adjustment is a quick movement that produces a "pop" noise in the joints, which feels good and loosens up the treated area. The pop noise is a release of gas from the joints of the spine. This quick movement triggers a response in the muscles that attach to the bones in the spine causing them to relax immediately.

At Chiro Cleveland, the doctor pairs the adjustment with muscle treatment (much like a deep tissue massage) in the same visit. The adjustment is typically done first because it produces an immediate relaxation to the muscles of the spine, which helps them loosen up before the massage.

The chiropractic adjustment performed by Dr. Medlong is a quick push to the neck, mid back or lower back. This involves a great amount of precision. The adjustment is a safe and effective way to return motion back to the stiff joints in the spine. The adjustment is often accompanied by the sound of a "crack," which is a normal release of gas from the spinal joints. The sound sometimes surprises patients but afterwards they say it feels great!

We feel that the majority of painful conditions are caused by muscle tension. The challenge is to first diagnose which muscle(s) are causing the pain, which takes a trained professional because there are hundreds of them in the body, then the treatment can be focused on these symptomatic muscles. Our goal is to custom tailor a treatment plan that works best for you. Our philosophy is that not every patient is alike; therefore each treatment plan should be unique.
