Neck PainThere are many causes of neck pain and chiropractic care can be a quick and effective way to treat it. Some of the more common types of neck pain are listed here.
Dull, Achy pain This type of pain is most commonly caused by poor posture from long hours of sitting at a computer or desk. You can see someone's head slowly drifting forward as they look at the computer screen which causes the weight of their head to pull strongly on the muscles in the back of the neck. This causes repetitive strain injuries along with stress on the joints in the neck. When the deep muscles of the neck are strained, commonly the neck pain will be dull and achy in a general area that is hard to pinpoint. At Chiro Cleveland, chiropractic treatment is focused on relaxing the tense muscles, improving the muscle strength and realignment for correct posture. Sharp pain In most instances sharp neck pain is caused by a neck sprain from some sort of trauma such as a car accident or workers comp injury. Sometimes, something as simple sleeping in a bad position one night can cause a person to wake up with sharp neck pain. Chiropractic treatment is focused first on reducing all of the swelling and returning full movement to the neck. Avoiding therapy will often cause scar tissue to form in the muscles and ligaments much like a scar on the skin from a cut, leading to a high chance of the pain coming back in the future.
