At Chiro Cleveland we believe that muscle tension is the cause of most painful conditions. Whether its neck pain, back pain, headaches, jaw pain, or pain around the joints of the arms and legs, there is most likely some component of muscle tension that is causing the pain. Because there can be a host of other medical conditions that cause pain, our patients are first examined by the doctor to rule out anything that is more serious.
In the vast majority of cases, the cause of pain is a specific primary muscle. We have found that massage therapy is one of the best treatments for these conditions. The massage therapists at Chiro Cleveland are highly trained in medical massage therapy, meaning that they go through a four month Medical Massage training program to help them identify and treat each individual muscle in every area of the body. Commonly, deep tissue massage (myofascial release) will be used in order to help the muscle to relax but other times a softer approach will work as well.
We like to tell our patients what they can expect from treatment. The first day will feel great: the painful area will feel loose and have less pain. The next day or two will feel very sore like the person had a rigorous workout and this is because the muscle has been treated and is going through the rebuilding process. After that the treated area will feel loose again.
Through the rigors of our day, and other factors such as bad posture, unbalanced muscles and traumatic injuries, certain muscles will remain tight, leaving other muscles loose and weak. These specific muscles are what we focus on. By relieving these tense muscles, pain relief is immediate, allowing rebuilding of the damaged tissues in the body to begin.
Any chiropractor will tell you that no two neck or back conditions are alike. When a new patient walks into our clinic, Dr. Abraham Medlong spends time identifying which of the hundreds of muscles are injured and in spasm. This brings quicker pain relief and helps determine which weakened muscles need the most rehabilitation. At Chiro Cleveland, we believe that massage is not a luxury, it's a necessity.
Canceling within 24-hours of a scheduled massage therapy appointment is subject to a $25 fee due on the next visit.
