Dr. Kajal Patel
Dr. Kajal Patel was born in Toronto, Canada and has lived in many places within the United States and abroad. She spent time in Johannesburg, South Africa and at the age of ten, relocated to Mumbai, India for eight years. While there she had to learn to speak, read, and write in both Hindi and Marathi which was challenging as she had formally only spoken English and her mother tongue, Gujarati.
While in India, Dr. Patel embraced the culture of the region, even learning authentic Indian cuisine and traditional dance as part of her assimilation into the culture. Dr. Patel spent many hours under the tutelage of her mother learning how to prepare authentic Gujarati cuisine which has its own blend of unique spices and preparation techniques. While Dr. Patel admits that she loathed being in the kitchen for so many hours, that experience enabled her to hone her skills in being able to conceptualise and create the unique flavourful dishes she now prepares.
Dr. Patel attended an all-girls college which was challenging as all testing was conducted in the format of essay and oral examination. Of note, Dr. Patel credits her focus and discipline to the strict standards that were imposed there.
At the age of eighteen, Dr. Patel returned to the States and attended the University of Florida before enrolling at the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. It was during those years at Chiropractic College that Dr. Patel learned of the innate healing capacity of the body. She also realised the healing potential of combining nutritional foods with natural holistic techniques. It is an interest that has carried over to her daily life as she has cultivated methods of food preparation that embrace use of traditional spices & medicinal herbs within authentic native and spontaneously imagined dishes.
Dr. Patel earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2010. During her training she felt compelled to return to India on a mission trip to serve the impoverished indigent population of Hyderabad where there is limited access to medicine and none to chiropractic care. This was a life changing event for Dr. Patel as she witnessed miraculous transformations in people who had never experienced the healing potential of chiropractic. She also was able to see and treat those with conditions hardly ever seen within most developed countries. Dr. Patel recalls tears, hugs, laughter, blessings and great joy during that trip.
Upon graduation, Dr. Patel began practice in Covington, GA where she independently operated the chiropractic division within a medical-chiropractic clinic. She later joined a multi-disciplinary health center in Norcross, GA that focused on both functional and regenerative medicine for over seven years prior to relocating to the Cleveland, OH area.
Dr. Patel manages her own Instagram page entitled “Twisty Simple Eats” where she displays her food creations and outlines the variety of healing ingredients she employs. She truly embraces the doctrine of food as medicine, particularly, to borrow from Hippocrates - let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.
Dr. Patel is truly excited to be joining Chiro Cleveland. She has a passion for health and healing and hopes to employ those skills to enhance the life, health and wellbeing of all who seek her care.
